iCal Day - July 17th On July 17, 2002 iCal was premiered at the Macworld Expo in New York City. On a Mac running Mac OS X, the calendar program, called iCal, uses a desktop icon that looks like a daily desk calendar showing the date "Jul 17". On Mac OS X versions before Leopard (version 10.5) when the iCal icon was added to the dock it would show the original icon image "Jul 17". But when the iCal program was running, the icon image on the dock would change to the current date. With the release of Leopard, the iCal icon image displays the current date on the dock whether the program is running or not. But if you show the icon in the Finder, it still shows "Jul 17".
